Recovering Outlook 2000 contacts

Jul 28, 2004 4:30AM PDT

Hi all
Using Windows 2000 Pro
MS Office 2000

A friend of mine accidentally deleted some important
contact information from outlook 2000.
She also exited outlook after completing her tasks.
Is there a way to retrieve these lost contacts.
Oh. The PC has not yet been shutdown or restarted.

Which is equivalent to not having a spare key to your house nor car, because you're confident you will never lose the only one you have, so you can spare the time and money needed to make them. Then, one day, well, you can imagine ...

Depending on how Outlook works it might be possible to recognize some of the deleted information by opening the pst-file in Notepad, or using any hex/char-editor. But just as well it's overwritten by other information or blanked or coded or unrecognizable or scattered through the whole file, or the file might be 100 Mb which is rather time-consuming to search through.
A simple Edit>Find might be the solution in such a tool. Or just, as well, it might not.

Hope this helps.
