Recovering deleted files...

by heatherlynne07 / August 4, 2007 4:58 PM PDT

Last week my pc shut down, when I tried to boot back up it through me into System Restore. It was set back to factory settings. Lucky I had backed up my pictures which can not be replaced....Today I find that I saved my pics as a read only file.. I can't even open the folder. I was wanting to know if anyone out there could let me know if I could recover these pics or change file on my back up disk????

Anyones help would be an answer to my prayers!

Heather Lynne

You said you had backed up these photos to disks. Do you mean to CD or DVD disks?

If so, then they will be read only, but that shouldn't stop you from seeing the photos. Files burned to CD/DVD become read only by default.

What error messages do you get when you try to open the folders or files?

What happens if you copy these files from the CD/DVD's back to the hard disk. Can you then remove the read only attributes of the files and folders?

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
