Recovering Data after deleting the partition of a disk.

by tzouras / October 26, 2004 2:28 AM PDT

I have accidently deleted the partition of one my hard drives. I did this while trying to reinstall Windows XP on my machine. Instead of deleting the partition of my system disk and then formating it to install Windows again, I deleted the partition of one of my other drives, and I created a new partition. I DID NOT FORMAT THIS DRIVE.

Is all the data on this drive lost forever or is there a way to recover it? A friend told me of a utility that can read the disk sector by sector and recover the data since I did not format the drive? Is this true?

Does anybody know of such a utility?

Thanks for yout time

You can use a third party utility that can search the entire hard drive and shows you the results. I'll give you some examples:

DIY DataRecovery DiskPatch 1.0

PC Inspector File Recovery

GetDataBack

Note

Some of those utilities have different versions for FAT/NTFS so, choose them accordingly.
