As to the raid wiping out the drive, that's normal when dealing with RAID. What's on the drives in the RAID can vanish when we change the RAID. Yes, that's often learned along with the need to backup what we can't lose.

running xp sp3 pro on had 500gb hdd single partition ntfs. added second drive same size using nividia drivers in bios to setup up raid 1 mirroring. Evidently i did something that deleted partion on main drive. I have 183 gb of data on drive. i have tried some of the free programs but nothing seems to work cannot see drive when connected usb to good computer. I very depresrate. any ideas that will help would be greatly appreciated. DEumb dumb did not backup drive as i had no way to do it but dvd. and did not think it would effect main drive.
