Question

recover a deleted folder-android phone

Jan 2, 2016 11:16AM PST

tried to do 3 things at once and i deleted the 'camera' folder on my wifes (non-rooted) phone lenovo A916 running android 4.4.2

i tried an app called 'disk digger' recommended by a friend, it found 2458 files but with no 'restore to" option i'm at a loss as to what goes where....

needless to say, android directory structures are like rocket science to me

any and all help will be most appreciated

Answer
It's all about backup.

Under Android is Linux. And Linux file recovery is well, involved to say the least.

Now there will be spammers that will come along and try to sell you recovery apps but just like your PC if you install apps you overwrite the area you wanted to recover.

-> Take the lesson about backup and move forward. Find backup apps you like and stop fiddling with the files and folders in this OS.

I'd ask disk digger support next.

The restore to can't be on the drive/volume that the files were found on. Or it could overwrite stuff. Only my Android tablets seem to have USB ports for disk and memory sticks so does the phone have a memory card you can pop into it?
