Dec 18, 2010 2:34AM PST

I have a olevia 232-t12 hdtv and a sony rdr gx-330 dvd recorder. I have a antenna hookup and can not record tv on the dvd recorder. When I try automatic channel setup on recorder it will not get any tv stations.

Mean that most recorders don't work anymore. Not only did antenna become obsolete but I see our cable co went all digital so you can't watch without a decoder box.

Antenna not obsolete, you get all digital over air now. My recorder worked without cable box when I had cable. Anyone with helpful info?

So you have digital over the air, and your TV is able to receive digital without a box? It seems your recorder isn't. Have look at the user manual what it says about recording digital signal. But it being a 2006 recorder, I don't think it can.

If you have a box for your TV, you can use the same one for your recorder. Otherwise you'll have to buy one, or buy a new recorder that can receive digital from over the air. Just find your nearest shop.

The DVD recorder does not have a digital tuner.

"receiver has only an analog broadcast tuner and will require a converter box after February 17, 2009 to receive over-the-air broadcasts with an antenna because of the U.S.'s transition to digital broadcasting. Analog-only TVs should continue to work as before with cable and satellite TV services, gaming consoles, VCRs, DVD players, and similar products. For more information, call the Federal Communications Commission at 1-888-225-5322 (TTY: 1-888-835-5322), or visit the commission's digital-television Web site at: www.dtv.gov."

It appears you've been stung (along with how many others) about this change.
