recording / streaming using Vista

I have Asus Duo T5450 bought June 2008 and it has vista

I am trying to record from playing BBC listen again broadcasts.

but the problem seems to find a programme that supports vista - sorted that and tried using correct ones. But problem seems to actually be that the system only lists 'realtek microphone and will not allow any options to choose CD / DVD / streaming or a new microphone

How to I resolve this problem - I am not a techy so answers need to be very very simple please

I won't duplicate a very long discussion but skip to the answer. We used a patch cord from the speaker output to the AUX IN and if need be the Mic Input. Then we could record. Again, I decline to go over this every time it comes up. No offense intended but you can imagine why I can't do that.
