Recording Radio on DVD

Aug 12, 2005 12:07PM PDT

Each night it is my practice to record a 4-hour late night radio program (Coast to Coast AM) for replay and more convenient listening the next day. Currently, I use a standard VCR patched to a radio receiver for recording and patched to an audio amplifier for playback and use the same tape each night, recording over the old recording. If it is feasible and practical to do this on DVD, what equipment would you recommend?
Thank you

But why?

I recently bought a Pioneer DVR-RT500 combo DVD/VHS Recorder mainly to transfer my old VHS tapes to DVD. It can be used to record directly to DVD or VHS and can dub from DVD to VHS or VHS to DVD. It certainly can be used to record your radio to DVD just as you are doing on VHS and can be re-recorded if you use DVD-RW disks.

What I do not understand is why you would want to record to DVD instead of VHS if you are just recording over the tape daily. Hi-Fi VHS tapes have very high quality sound even in the 6 hour mode. If you are recording in analog, you will certainly notice a big difference. It is easier to rewind and record over a VHS tape than to erase or reformat a DVD-RW. If you are looking to replace your VCR, this is a fine unit to consider.

Unless/until someone comes along with a better idea, maybe I'm better off sticking with the VCR recording approach. Thanks for your comments.
