General discussion

recording in two different camcorders

Nov 11, 2007 9:01AM PST

Hi
I have a problem with viewing miniDVs recorded sometimes back with Sony camcorder.

Now I changed to a brand new Panasonic camcorder. I am able to use and record over those old DVs and play it but the old stuff which was recorded with Sony doenst play (on the same DV) . I get an error says " Unplayable Tap (other format)."

So I have two recordings on the same tap. 10minutes recorded with Sony and next 10minuts with Panasonic. I can watch what was recorded with Panasonic but It is not playing the recording by Sony (It displays the above error)

Is there something which prevents viewing the recording on different branded camcorders ?

Please let me know your views and questions.

I decline to dive into why. But you will see this even in the same make camcorders...

Hi
I dont know whats misaligned means but both the recorders were brand new . No issues with individual recordings.
I used Sony n maxell tapes . Both are not working with Panasonic , however I can record on them using new recorder.

Thanks
