Try connecting headphones to the Y adaptor cables. Do you hear stereo? If not, check the output from the camera with earphones. If so, there is a problem with your Direct TV setup.
Have you tried firewire?
Hello,
I have a Panasonic PV-GS120. I hook up my direcTV box to record programs using an S-Video cable and one of those Y-Adapter stereo cables (red & white RCA plugs on one end, stereo mini plug on the other).
The only problem is, when I capture the footage on my computer, it is only outputting sound on the left channel. I'm really confused as to what is going on. Could it be that I am using the wrong cable or something? Could it be camera settings? I have gone through all the settings and have racked my brains for 2 days trying to figure out the problem.
I even re-adjusted all the cables, even plugging them as they should not be plugged, trying different settings. I have tried wiggling the cable, pushing it in a bit snugger, etc.
If you have any idea what could be causing this, I would appreciate it. Thanks a bunch!
John
