Recording from a turntable

Jul 27, 2005 2:55AM PDT

I have a turntable attached to a preamp feeding into my "line in" jack on my computer. I get a strong signal coming out of my speakers, but I cannot seem to make a recording with nero6. I bring up Nero SoundTrax and go through the Wizard for LP to CD Wizard and nothing but noise appears on the meters. What am I not doing to get it to work?

Recording from a turntable

" Nero SoundTrax". Since I have Nero but never tried to use the sound part I gave this a try. Found out that you need to use the "Wave Editor" to record. Open up Wave editor and click on help and follow the procedure to record. John

Some thought on this...

Be sure "line-in" is specified because the default is digital and also "digital monitoring" is uncheck. Observe that the clock is running while in recording mode. One thing I have notice is that the in "properties", the file extention is mpeg-4 media file (that may or may not be the problem); I was able to burn a audio cd with it.

Suggestion; capture the audo to the harddrive first then burn that file to the cd. Give that a try, good luck.

You probably do not have line in selected as the source

for audio to be recorded from. This selection is made in the volume controls accessed through the Control Panel. They will initially display the play volume controls which is why you can hear the LP. You need to switch the display to the record controls and select line in as the source to be recorded.
