Hi gang, bought a new Toshiba Dvd/Vhs player recorder Mod.#SD-V296KU.Did not realize that there was not a tuner included. Is there a way to record a tv program to a vhs tape without using a tuner. Could use some help with this problem. Did not see any Info. On this subject in the Forum. Thanks for any help. wateri out.

Not tuner = No tv signal = No Picture to record

you may be able to record if you use the Video and Audio output of the TV connected to the Video and Audio input of the Toshiba

Thanks for your reply on my post. I tried what you had suggested on the hookups, but it did not work. A neighbor of mine said that using an older vcr recorder that has a tuner and hooking into that might work. Have you ever heard of that for a solution. Your input on that would be helpful. satellite, cable, or antenna? If you have satellite or cable use their box. Antenna you need a converter box.

Thank you for your help. I do have a cable box, but the unit that I want to use, is like 4 rooms away. Would I have to use a splitter from the cable box and possibly bring the cable up through the basement and into the room where the Recorder unit is. What do you think? wateri, out.

will be the tuner. Whatever channel it is on is what will be recorded. If you need to send the signal to a TV (with splitter) then you can watch and record the same channel.

Or, for a little more money you can get another tuner box from your cable provider, split the cable before it is connected to the boxes, and tune two different channels. One to the TV and one to the VCR.
