record video for emailing

What format is recommended for taking short videos that you can load into your computer and email someone. I would also need to have a screen for viewing as well

You'll do better putting the clips on a web server and then emailing out the URL.

Here is an example:
http://www.lonestarboxerrescue.com/boxers/2004/astro/video/astro.wmv

The camera I used shoots MPEG2. I re-encoded the web-version as a .wmv.

What is this screen you are asking about? You should be able to view it on your computer monitor.
