Recondition my Macbook or go Chrome?

Aug 28, 2015 6:25AM PDT

Hi there - some advice needed please...

I have an old Macbook Pro (about 7 yrs old) and it's seen better days. The screen is cracked and it's got a bit slow. I hate OSX and have totally had enough of it now, but I love the machine.

I'm off to Uni next month and will need a decent laptop, so it's decision time. I can't afford a grand for a new Macbook, so I either:

a) get the screen fixed, format the laptop, boost the memory and install Windows instead of OSX. Will cost about £250 (I get Windows cheap).

b) get one of these for £280.

I'll really miss the Macbook if it goes, especially the trackpad. I'm erring towards a).

Any ideas?
