Recommended flash drive to run Xubuntu on...

by MrKassner / September 18, 2009 10:58 AM PDT

I'm basically looking for a new flash drive to install Linux Xubuntu on since I'm going on a real long trip in a couple of weeks and want a good portable desktop. I already have two flash drives; one is real fast around 25MBps read/write but only 1GB so it's not big enough, the other is big at 8GB but very slow at about 15MBps read and 5MBps write and won't run any OS off of for some reason I don't know, am guessing it's because it's a U3 drive.

Getting to the point...
I need a flash drive that is at least (preferably more) 4GB and has decent to fast read/write speeds, at least 20MBps read and 10MBps write, NOT a U3 drive, and now the hard part... no more then $30 ($40 max). I'm looking through reviews on flash drives on NewEgg, Wal-Mart and so on as I write this, I just wanted to see if anyone has a flash drive they'd recommend for something like this or have had a good history with a certain brand.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
