Recommended Cooling Pad for a Dell Studio 17

Apr 15, 2010 1:25PM PDT

I just ordered a dell studio 17 laptop computer, and to maintain it's longevity I want to get a cooling pad for it. I don't know which one to get because I'm not sure how the airflow of the laptop is ment to be. The laptop also has a 9cell battery that acts as legs, proping up the back end a little. With this in mind, a couple questions I have are:

- Should I get one that blows air upward into the laptop, or one that sucks the air away from it?
- Should I lay the laptop with the legs proping it up, or lay the battery off the back of the pad to lay it flat?

Any recommendations would be appreciated, the main features I'm looking for besides the obvious keeping the laptop cool is:

- Able to set it on my lap, not just for the desk
- Semi-portable. I don't intend to travel much, but I would like it to fit inside a 17" laptop case
- Fit the 17" laptop

Thanks in advance for any recommendations or input.

When it arrives

You can see which way the air flows and for most folk they'll agree you want to match that direction. As I don't have this model I can't tell you which way the wind blows.

Cooling pad for Dell Studio 17

I am interested on which cooling pad you found helpful. Can you tell me which one you chose as i have the same laptop and the cooling pad I use is a dual fan blowing up from below. Most any I have seen are fans that blow upward. Frankly I don't even notice the fan blowing on mine, but it is cool here.

I am surprised that the Dell Mod has not responded or have they?

Hey yo! DELL MOD what is the answer?
