Recommendations for batch icon generating software?

Jun 29, 2012 12:54AM PDT

Hello,

I am looking for a program that will create a large batch of images/GIFS quickly but also allows for numerous customizations (such as transparent backgrounds, quick colour change or text of icons, large number of images in library [particularly vehicles/transportation related] or can allow me to import my own images). Do you know of any programs like this?

I currently use PaintShop Pro but find it very time consuming considering the number of custom images I need to create. Any suggestions would be very helpful.

Thanks,

Melissa

Icon generator software.

When I search for that with Google I do see some options, eg the first one on the list for me was;
http://www.icon-maker.com/

I have no idea how well it works. CNET's Download.com also has one here, http://download.cnet.com/Icon-Generator/3000-2195_4-10578424.html but the first review wasn't very good.

However that page did lead me on to Microangelo's Icon maker, a recognised name from some years back. Their web site at http://www.microangelo.us/

As with all of these, see if you can try before you buy. That way you have some time at least to evaluate the software.

I hope that helps, and good luck.

Mark

Thanks for the suggestions Happy

I will definitely give both a try today.

I also had a look at the MicroAngelo software and it sounds like it might do the trick but we're not making icons in the same sense that most of these programs intend so it is a bit difficult to find all that we're looking for in one program.

A lot of the icon generating software that I've tried can't replicate the icon hundreds of times and re-name the files sequentially. Or they only allow you to save it as a .ico and not a .gif.

For the more advanced user look at ImageMagick.

Tried it before but...

Hello,

Thanks for the suggestion. We've tried this before but sometimes the coding can be quite tricky and often fickle which can be extremely time consuming. This program has all the functions we need but it not very user friendly for someone with average knowledge of computers.

Thanks!
