recommendation on a audio D/A converter for viera tv

May 15, 2013 11:48AM PDT

I have a 2012 viera plasma tv, panasonic Viera P50GT50 . Can anyone recommned an audio D/A converter to connect between the TV fiber optic audio output and an older stereo am that only has analog rca jack inputs. Thanks for any recommendations. From what i have been following, it seems that there are many D/A converters that do not work well with the viera TVs?

These are fungible items and if you check out the top 10 units, you can get it done for under 20 bucks.

Sorry but I didn't hear they didn't work with these TVs. I guess folk can fret about this but I'd just get it done.

recommendation on a audio D/A converter for viera tv
May 21, 2013 8:00AM PDT

i have previously purchased a geffen D/a converter but it did not work with my tv. I am sure the video in works on my stereo since i had a prior TV analog audio going the stereo just prior to buying this TV. so that is why i am asking for recommendations of makes / models from folks that have one working with a panasonic viera TV.

thanks for your help and time

In this case.

Maybe there is an issue. But keep in mind the audio must be in some encoding that is supported by the converter. I've seen folk try and fail to get 5.1 audio working. I continue to change it back to stereo and it works every time.
