Recommendation for Web Site Builders

Aug 5, 2007 2:35PM PDT

Preferably WYSIWYG since my knowledge of HTML is, ummm, limited. I know a bit of it, and can tweak things, but I'm looking for a site builder = not for a business a personal site, I've been working with NVU but have run into some pesky problems with it. I have all of what I want where I want it but for some reason when I change the reference to one link in my index file, it changes them ALL to the same one. I have gotten frustrated poring over the code, else it works fine, but the help screens are difficult and the forums impossible, you have to wait for the site admin to "ok" your address and I've been waiting for 6 days, the problem with open source I guess, is no one minding the store. :^)

So I was wondering what other options are out there, that I might try importing my html files and index to, in order to see if a new site builder can do what NVU can't. Appreciate ANY suggestions. I already own my own domain name, and just need to fix this one problem, before going live, and am stymied with NVU. Thanks for your help! :^) gene

How much money
Aug 7, 2007 1:29AM PDT

are you willing to spend?

Here are some free ones that I found on downloads.com ... they also have good user reviews... (listed starting with highest rating):

* http://www.download.com/Nvu/3000-2048_4-10412422.html?tag=lst-3-3

* http://www.download.com/Dynamic-HTML-Editor/3000-2048_4-10619192.html?tag=lst-3-5

* http://www.download.com/EzyPage-Basic-Edition/3000-2068_4-10715231.html?tag=lst-3-10

Those are just a few ideas, I haven't personally tried any of them, but you may also just want to go to downloads.com and search for WYSIWYG editors yourself. I chose to show all free ones, and I'm sure if you are willing to pay a little you may get some good programs also.

NVU

I've figured some work-arounds using NVU. The problem with it is that it is open source. There is an active forum but it is one of those to which no one seems to be attending the store, so to speak. You register, get a mail, click it, and then have to wait for the site administrator to approve you. This one's been on vacation or something because I've been waiting a week. In the meantime have probably learned what I needed on my own. But am willing to try others too, the more the merrier, lol. So thanks for the references, I will look at those too. :^) gene
