What you may want to consider is a receiver that has several (2 or more) optical audio inputs for your different surround sound peripherals. The TV will not send 5.1 through the TV, so consider a receiver that has one for your Blu-Ray, one for your DirecTV, and maybe another for your TV audio.
Samsung does have a pretty wide selection, and those can be found here:
There's even a feature seeker options and a price range slide scaler that might help you choose one that's right for you.
Does that help?
We have a Samsung LED TV UN55B6000 with a Samsung BlueRay disk player BD-P1600. The picture is fabulous, but the sound quality is not as good as we wish. We want to hook up a 5.1 sound system to it. We have the analog speakers, but....
1) can you recommend a quality amp (under $1,000) that will work with this TV?
2) How do I connect it up to this TV?
3) Since we have DirectTV, can I then program my DirectTV remote to control the sound level?
4) If so, can I mute the sound on the TV while I use the 5.1 external speakers?
Thanks for any help you can give me.
Best wishes, Dee
