Recommendation for new basic printer

by monica 211 / March 23, 2016 5:44 PM PDT

I have had HP printers for years and they stink. What is a good basic printer for a reasonable price. It has to work with Vista and Windows 7. I just need something that is reliable and not expensive and do not need a multi function. Thoughts please?

The problem is that with mass production the costs of a multifunction has fallen. So I just go with the top 5 at Amazon and I'm done.

If you want reliable, you may want to get a black and white laser printer. These run about 99 bucks today and last for years with low cost of ownership and rarely a multifunction. It's also what I consider a basic printer and not expensive per page.

1. Inkjets. Nod to the MX922
2. Lasers. stick to the top 10.

Thanks R,

Which brand do you think, is the best?
I had mentioned that I do not need a multi-functional,in order to give the most information.
There are times when I do not print for a while, but I would like my printer to work when I do,
It seems HPs are very tempermental and noisy!

I'm brand agnostic.

In this case if it does not print for weeks you want to get a laser. Inkjets, all I know of do not like to be unused for weeks.
