The problem is that with mass production the costs of a multifunction has fallen. So I just go with the top 5 at Amazon and I'm done.
If you want reliable, you may want to get a black and white laser printer. These run about 99 bucks today and last for years with low cost of ownership and rarely a multifunction. It's also what I consider a basic printer and not expensive per page.

I have had HP printers for years and they stink. What is a good basic printer for a reasonable price. It has to work with Vista and Windows 7. I just need something that is reliable and not expensive and do not need a multi function. Thoughts please?
