Recommendation for laptop for HDMI to HDTV

Nov 6, 2009 2:16AM PST

I'm looking to buy a new laptop, I see many new laptops have an HDMI out, but I want to ensure I get the best (well maybe not best if its really expensive) picture possible. What should I be looking for in terms of a video card and resolution output?
Thank you

The expectation vs. reality

While you might get HD output the brutal truth is BR players tend to win this game.

However, I like hookup this way for gaming.

In answer to the question. The Intel 4500MHD or better.

actually my goal is to be able to watch TV videos from website like Lost from ABC or Hulu or Clicker. I wont be using to play DVDs or blurays or gaming.

That works too.

But if you find discussions on this you often find folk asking why it's blocky, laggy or the most famous issue -> "lip sync."

Oddly enough I had a hard time find any good discussion about it.

I wondered about that. Is it because of the processor? video card? internet connection? Or the site where the videos are posted?

Yes.

Not to start yet another discussion about it. At least you know about it. It's imperfect.

Might check this out...

Windows 7 has a big focus on using your media anywhere (which is actually pretty awesome). The PC scout lets you look at laptops side-by-side and compare - you can click on "additional" at the bottom of the sliders on the left hand side and select those with high graphics output, which should be something you'll want.

God luck!
