not sure if it helps, but you can buy a 1080p panasonic th50pz80u at circuit city, best buy, sears, etc for around 2000..go to their websites, and print out the price of the cheapest, they will match it. at least in my circuit city they do anyways, as of today it is 1699.99 on our website, but 1994.98 in the store. happy shopping. let me know how it turns out.
My 16 year old tube Samsung has retired. My research started one week ago and brought me here I was focused on LCD only...the Sony S4100 series (46 in). As of yesterday I began siding towards Plasma. I'd like as big as possible but 50 in seems to be the limit for my budget of $2000 in Canada. I was told NEC is a very good choice yet I have not seen this brand much on line or at the big box stores. At 50 inches, looks like I would have to settle on 760p/1080i, am I investing in old technology that I will be sorry for in a couple of years? I don't want to buy another tv in 5 or even 10 years for that matter. I'd love to hear some thoughts and reviews. How does NEC compare to other brand(s) that might be better buys? While I'm here I may as well ask, is there a definitive answer to the LCD vs Plasma question. I am not a whole lot into the technical info as I am the bottom line in seeing the visual difference. From my limited viewing in the show rooms, I can't really see a difference.
