New BGA rework stations were in the thousands. And the problem after you get the station is sourcing parts PLUS you often don't fix the real issue. For example those DV6000/9000 models would just die again later. Same chip in, same fail later.
I strongly suggest you never go done this path.
Maybe there are such threads but want to know how are things today. I work in small service shop and want to know how many $ have to prepare for this purchase.
Have read http://www.pctekreviews.com/Guides/GFXRepair.aspx and am interesting in video chips deinstall and install(desktop graphics adapters)
Notebook BGA chips are also good option, but the price is determinant.
