Recognise Typewrited documents using OCR in word 2003

Hello All,

I have Microsoft word 2003 and scanner.
I have some documents which are typed using typewriter.
I want to know is it possible to recognise the typewrited characters using OCR of word 2003?

I want to edit the document after recognisation is done. is it possible.

I've got no personal experience with this feature of Word 2003, but http://ict.cas.psu.edu/training/howto/scanner/officeimaging.html notes how to do it. However, http://support.microsoft.com/kb/839369, says it might be better to use a third-party OCR-tool. Didn't your scanner come with an OCR-tool (mine did)?
