I'm looking for recievers that have HDMI inputs. I'd like to squeeze in under a $1,000.

BETTER IDEA
Nov 21, 2005 8:00AM PST

I run all my vidio straight to my hi-def t.v..It means less cables(straight thru) also I dont worry about degrading picture quality running thru the amp, I run my d.v.d. and hi-def sat system using d.v.i. and a giffen switcher and it works great also you dont have to spend moremoney on a amp with the h.d.m.i switching good luck stewart norrie

Question...
Nov 22, 2005 9:17PM PST

I have a question about that very scenario. I'd like to run my video directly to the TV, as well. But, let's say that I used HDMI for my DVD and Satellite box directly to the TV, how do I route sound through my amp (when I get one. that's why I ask ahead of time).

Do I used the digital outs on the back of my TV and run those to the receiver?

use the Digital Audio output

HDMI carries digital audio but the Optical digital output from DVD player carries the same audio signal. connect that to the Receiver's optical input.

I am curious...

How much did this giffen switcher cost you. I been checking on either DVI switcher or HDMI switcher, both seems to be very expensive in prices ($200 to $300).
