Recently Used Programs disappeared

Jul 7, 2007 8:50AM PDT

For some reason my start menu no longer shows Recently Used Programs or Recently Used Documents. All other MRU lists seem to be working properly, just these two are blank. I tried clearing or setting it to display 0 programs, then restarting and setting it back to 6 but it still doesn't show. Any ideas appreciated.

Try start>properties>start menu tab>customize>advanced tab>is the "list my recently opened documents" checked?

Regarding "windows user Assist MRU's" is a feature some programs have and if enabled will delete. If you have a prgram with this feature it might be configured to delete MRUs.

ccleaner has this feature, check this SCREEN SHOT and notice "other explorer MRUs"

Yes this option is checked.

I have not used any program to clear the MRU list for a few months, and since I use my computer every day I would have expected it to show the programs I use most frequently. I dont' know why it doesn't show them. How can I make it start to list them again?

I'm confused with this "no longer shows Recently Used Programs"

"All other MRU lists seem to be working"

To clarify
Jul 9, 2007 5:33AM PDT

My start menu has a blank space where the recently used programs usually appear (on the left hand side).

Other MRU lists such as the Run dialog, or the address bar, or the common open/save dialog boxes are working correctly its just the My Recent Documents and the frequently used programs area of them start menu that's not working.

I couldn't find that helped there. I have noticed the problem applies to all users of the computer, if that makes any difference.

Had same problem. Fixed it - got the MRU programs back.

Right click on Start button -> Properties

Choose "Start Menu" instead of "Classic Start Menu"
