Question

Recently got 2 BSOD, unsure why and looking for fix please

Mar 12, 2017 10:38AM PDT

As the subject title says. Recently my PC has BSOD twice, once today and once yesterday. Possibly related I've been getting "Aw snap" errors on google chrome where tabs keep crashing.

I'm not exactly sure where I can find relevant information in regards to these crashes. Only thing I have is:
"The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x0000001a (0x0000000000041284, 0xffff890080400000, 0x0000472000047214, 0xffff888010804310)."

Copy pasted some build info from Speccy below.

Answer
I always start with a google.

Like this. https://www.google.com/search?q=0x0000001a

Now that doesn't help folk that don't do this a lot so for them they are going back to the maker if the BSODs continue. For Chrome I usually start by resetting Chrome (how is on the web) so I'm sure there are no addins that can crash.

For some odd reason I see dual screen machines crash more often than singles. My bet is the graphics card makers are still working out bugs in drivers. As more and more folk hook up a second display you see more crashes.

In closing the PC has yet to be a crash free experience. That can be pretty disturbing to folks new and old.

I'll try giving Chrome a reset see if that helps out.
As well as run that memory diagnostic tool it recommends me trying and see if that helps out

Sometimes the full Speccy helps.

I see an possibly year+ old PC. So there are things we do that can trigger this error. I know it's rough but I read the SOLVED with my google search and look for matches.

Since you suspect memory, this is where a full Speccy helps me. I check that the RAM sticks are all same size, make and model. Mixing RAM sticks, while should work, is a big source of odd troubles. So if you need the forum members to check it out, read how at https://www.piriform.com/docs/speccy/using-speccy/publishing-a-speccy-profile-to-the-web

This is not a diagnosis. That is, given how PCs are made and some hundred sources of trouble the only "cure" is to do a deep inspection of the hardware, treat it to a deep clean, new compound and a clean install without getting into BETA apps, OS or drivers. That's unacceptable to most and impossible for some.

So we take the clues and try things. But that can be upsetting to those that demand a fix. For them, a new PC or Apple is the only answer.

Even more crashes
Mar 16, 2017 8:12PM PDT

So today I've had even more crashes than normal, right before the most recent one all my tabs in Chrome started getting the "aw, snap" error.

I ran memory diagnostics windows detected no errors, scanned my c:\ found some error, but said it repaired it.

Not sure what other info I can provide to help solve this.

Will try memtest86
Mar 17, 2017 4:35PM PDT

I'll give memtest86 a go when I get the chance and post results.
I also recently fully uninstalled and re-installed google chrome, and so far since then haven't experienced any crashes.

I also set up comp to make a mini dump next time it does bsod. Hopefully this'll end up being the last time I gotta post here. Thanks for the help.
