"RECENT(2009)" Compares/Reviews for Satellite TV & Internet?

Aug 6, 2009 9:07PM PDT

Thats it! Have had it with local cable(Mediacom)company! Too many problems to list. Can someone(s)please help in direction to proper forums and/or section where I can decide for myself(after reading submits)which satellite provider offers best tv/HD/Internet, install/service/CS, equipment, signal strength, programming, co$t$..etc..here at CNET and/or any other review site(s)?
Most "recent" comparisons and reviews preferred as I've noticed this subject dates back 4+ yrs.
Thanks to all for past posts.

They have wonderful and sometimes, quite insightful user forums with very local info on cable/sat/internet providers, etc.

The new kid on the block is AT&T Uverse. I don't know if it is available where you live.
I upgraded to AT&T Uverse high speed internet, 6mb $35. They are trying to get me to switch to the Uverse IP based cable video, so far I have not switched.
I have had Dish network for about 8~9 years now, the only complaints I have are a couple of runarounds with customer service, just ask to speak to supervisor if you have problems. I currently have 2 Dish VIP622 HD DVRs. I can record 4 HD programs and watch recorded programs at the same time on 4 different TVs. Dish HD is 1080P.

Maybe a Direct TV user will add some comments.

There is no perfect provider, your stuck with what ever cable company your community has. Yes with satellite you can lose you signal in VERY bad weather. In very bad weather my cable would go out for days at a time compared to 10~25 minutes for Dish. John

You are right about that; there are no perfect providers!

I had DirecTV for about 5 years; I would say they have been pretty good all that time. I have just recently switched to cable because my DSL got to be too unreliable and I need the cable company's internet services.
