Question

Receiver or amplifier for my setup?

Jan 30, 2015 9:51PM PST

I have TSi300 Polk Audio floor speakers and an AudioTechnica AT-LP60 turntable. My receiver from the 1980's bit the dust last night so I'm on the market for something new. Should I go with a receiver or just an amplifier because they're cheaper and simpler? Any brand and model recommendations for my setup? Thanks in advance!!!

Answer
Your choice- either would work

Ask yourself first what you feel you need feature-wise before pulling the trigger. This is mostly an issue of need/taste. Most receivers could suffice if all you wanted was something to replace what you had.

My first choice in this situation (spare any specific needs to modernize equipment/add inputs) is usually the second hand audio shop, where you can often find gear for a song. $1000 amps/preamps, etc. for $100.
