Receiver and Speakers

Apr 15, 2015 2:01AM PDT

I am purchasing the Sony STR-DN1050 receiver but a little confused about which speakers to get with it. Looking into the Energy 5.1 Take Classic or the Pioneer SP-PK52FS. Possible the Energy 5.1 with a pair of the Pioneer front speaker towers. Will this set up work with the Sony STR-DN1050 receiver?

It could if you can get the audio balanced correctly

I say go for it(!)

The Energy Take Classics ship with 4 satellites, so you should be good to go using those (identical speakers) as the 4 rears to create a 7.1 system. Big tower fronts as right/left too.

Would it be worth waiting a little longer for the Sony STR-DN1060 receiver at this point?

For what purpose/additional features do you feel you might need the 1060?

That's where the rubber hits the road. Personally, I would consider spending more on speaker upgrades (where electrical energy is converted into mechanical energy) than worrying about extra (arguably 'fluffy') streaming/wireless/service options. Just a thought anyway Wink

I completely understand. Gotta have some new gizmos(!)

Just don't get caught up with upgrading a receiver until you learn about how much more important loudspeakers role is in home audio. Nearly always overlooked by the newbies Wink
