Rebuilding RAID 5-RAID Error

by skiteer617 / August 15, 2007 6:50 AM PDT

Ok, I am hoping someone can help me because the tech support at XYZ pc company has no idea how to do this. I have RAID 5 on my pc. I have three hard drives that are 500gb each. The main hard drive on port 0 failed. I had to install a new hard drive and now the "Intel Matrix Controller" recognizes the new drive, but its not RAID. I have called tech support twice to rebuild the drive to RAID 5, but they keep saying NTFS?? The bios shows the drive, but as a non-RAID drive and Windows XP Pro shows it also, but not as RAID. The Intel Matrix Controller also notices it, but as a non RAID drive. I can choose to rebuild the drive, but it gives an error with a list of reasons. Any help is appreciated because if I have to call tech support again I am going to jump from the roof. Thanks.

RAID Requirements
by Darton Fury / August 15, 2007 7:25 AM PDT

The drive needs to be a Dynamic Disk formatted NTFS. Is the drive EIDE, SATA, or SCSI? You need to delete the bad drive from the Dynamic Disk Database and Import the new one.
