Your message is light in pertinent details regarding the hardware configuration and game?s name. So, the first step is to goto the game?s author and look for the latest patches for windows XP.

My first guess would be an overtaxed power supply. It could also be your CPU overheating.

Cetin's idea is a simple, and free, place to start, but I doubt it will solve anything. You're probably looking at spendinging anywhere from $50-150 for a new power supply. I'd suggest going at least 100W higher than what you've got now, maybe 150W if you're going with a cheaper off-brand PSU. If you're getting something like an Antec PSU, then you don't need to go over quite as much (50-75W). If you get a Shuttle PSU, then you can probably get by with a lot less (because when Shuttle says a PSU is 250W, they mean 250W of deliverable power, unlike most PSUs), but in both cases you will be paying a bit more.

Remove the case cover and see if the time to reboot gets longer. Can indicate a heat sensitivity issue.

Today, consumers are plagued with SPYWARE which HP/Compaq and other companies offer little support or barely acknowledge (it is getting better) which can cause big problems.

My view on spyware is simple. Don't allow it on your machine. If you find spyware, then don't complain about those reboots until its gone.
