Question

Reassigning KB Volume control

Sep 16, 2015 7:20PM PDT

I got this new headset, but it has no vol control. I have the Headphone/Mic jack in the KB itself, so im wondering if there is a way to control the volume of the headset instead of the PC with the KB Vol Control.

I can't guess which you'll like but on my laptop it's Fn+Arrow left or right.

Tell a little more about your PC?

Why?

Why do i need to tell you what kind of computer I have? All i asked is if it is possible to change the volume control on my KB from controlling the computer volume to controlling Headset volume.

Then the answer is yes.

Many folk want specific solutions so I wanted to share what would fit your PC. I know folk want more privacy but if you take your car in for repair or upgrades you have to reveal make, model, details.

So let's keep it simple. There are keyboard volume control apps out there.

*sigh*

I am not telling you about my computer not because im trying to hide it, but because it has no bearing on the possible answer to my question. You do not need to know what kind of computer I have to tell me whether or not there is a way to change the PC Volume control on my keyboard into a Headset Volume control on my Keyboard.

and I would appreciate it, that if there is a way, you tell me how, not just go "there are KB volume control apps" and then leave it at that. I came here for help (you know, what this website is for? helping people with stuff like this?), not for some guy to tell me to essentially find it myself.

Now please, tell me if what I am asking for exists and if it does, how to obtain it. If you cannot do that, then please do not post anything.

I am sorry if i come across as rude, but i hate it when i go to a site that is supposed to be all about helping people with things they dont know or technical issues or information and what it boils down to is people spouting "GOOGLE!" and calling that help, (for the record I know you didnt shout google at me, it was an example. though you did basically say "there are kb apps out there" and then expect me to know what to look for).

Re: violume control

Let's see if I understand the problem.
1. You have a PC with a headphone out. That's standard.
2. You have a keyboard with a headphone out. That's not standard.
3. Your keyboard also has volume control keys. That's not standard either.
4. The volume control keys of your keyboard control the volume of the headphone out on the PC, not on the headphone out on the keyboard.
5. You want to change that.

Well, probably the keyboard driver has options to define what those special keys on the keyboard do (for example, it tells what browser the www-key opens). If what you want isn't one of those options it can't be done. it's not a Windows feature, it's a keyboard feature.

Since nobody here knows what keyboard you have and what options are in the driver, nobody can help, I'm afraid.

The keyboard is a Logitech G110, and no, the volume control on the KB controls the volume of the computer. I WANT to make it control the volume of my headset. I checked the driver software that came with the KB, there is no way to remap the volume control for anything let alone to a headset. So i am looking for another way to do it, preferably a free way like an app or something.

I'd like to help narrow it down.

But once in a while folk don't want to share so I'm OK with that. Maybe something at your local shops is next. I see Kees wrote a little too.

I'll try but give me a little to go on about this PC. I'd like to pick out a good app for this. It would be nice to know this plus which OS. If I supplied a Windows App and this is an Apple, what good is that?
