Resolved Question

Rear USB ports not working... kinda?

Jun 3, 2018 2:59PM PDT

Okay, so, I've got this weird problem ever since I formatted my PC.

Basically, my rear USB ports are not working correctly. Be it 3.0 or the normal 2.0 ports. The thing is they aren't working correctly with wireless adapters only... Cable USB connections work as per normal, but Wireless adapters of any kind (tested a Wireless WiFi dongle and an Xbox One Wireless adapter) malfunction from time to time, that is, they lose connection for like 1/10 of a second and then resume activity.

Normally, this wouldn't be a big deal, but they do that every odd second, and it's very noticeable.

Any clues as to why this might be happening?

EDIT: Forgot to mention, my mobo is an Asrock H110M-HDV r3.0 and uh installed drivers through the program Driver Booster 5.4.

Booster?

Then back to them to correct the flaws.

Here I usually tackle this in about 3 areas.

1. Current BIOS.
2. Drivers from the maker. NEVER any driver app.
3. Look at the device manager and disable USB power saving (google that, plenty to read.)

USB Power Saving

I usually don't use these kind of programs, but heard good things about it and decided to try it out.

I tried disabling the USB power saving and this might had been the problem. The problems I noticed before are not happening right now. I can't say for sure it's fixed, but so far so good apparently! It's weird though, I'm pretty sure I didn't touch those checkboxes before (and most likely, they were on) and everything was working okay. But, eh, it's working now I guess.

Thank you!

Then my best advice is now.

"Don't fix it." While I would uninstall a driver updater since drivers do not wear out and these are known to update a working driver and cause troubles that some can't get out of on their own.

So , "Don't fix it." and if this was mine, uninstall the driver updater.
