Realplayer Update 12-28-12

The update released today caused about 20 files and folders to disappear from my desktop. I can't find them.
they includes icons, photos and CAD files.
Realplayer denies any connection to the issue, blaming it on the manufacturer, Cyberpower and/or Microsoft.

Never had this issue before.
Win7, Norton 360, always secure - no virus notice.
Seems Realplayer has turned into a REALPILE
