To do that boot from a cd that contains a partiton manager.

I just reformatted a laptop that was running XP FAT32, with a NTSF XP. I didn't realize at the time but there was another partion set up and I did not delete when I booted from the Win Disc. I now want to delete and reallocate that Fat32 partion to the C drive. I was succesfully able to delete the partion in the Computer Management area, but I do not get the option to 'extend the volume'. I'm thinking this may be a Vista thing or the fact I am going from Fat to NTSF?
Can anyone help me out?
