(*C'mon, John! Put a smile on...you can do it! There, doesn't that feel better?)
I respect you in every other way--but we are never going to see eye to eye on Dell (unless Dell makes major and lasting changes to its business practices), so let's just leave it at that. Dell never "screwed" any of your friends, so I don't expect you to understand my point of view. (However, I'll take the liberty of assuming that you are also very protective of your friends.)
I will continue to recommend "you" to other CNET Forums members as a good source of information, because that's what you "usually" are. I don't know why you have such big blinders on when it comes to Dell, and I don't care...you have a right to your own opinions, as do I.
Sincerely, JDM
(*There's no door on the doghouse I've built for Dell, and they know the way out. All they have to do is "the right thing" consistently--that's I'll I'd really like to see. I don't see it yet, but there are signs that things are "improving". See Chip Leader's post.)
we do partially see eye to eye on some of Dell's business practices. I have always been discouraged and had nothing good to say about Dell's moving their Support phone call off shore to India. They did bring back some to the U.S. due to the complaints, but not all. I also thought they would transfer some support phone calls to the new facility in Scotland, but I wonder.....(also, on if the Chinese will be talking on the Support phone line now that Dell is building a plant in China) ![]()
Well not only Chip, but look at some of these other post in your own survey giving praise to Dell:

Your BIAS against Dell is shown, even in your own survey:

your bias in favor of Dell, John!
Dell "screwed" my friends--do you think I should give them a hug for that? Is that what you're saying? ![]()
-JDM
(*If Dell had screwed someone I hated, that hug might be a little more forthcoming!) ![]()
You are again so wrong. I am not bias in favor of Dell. I suggest quite a few different computers companies to people. Haven't you read me writing that before. I don't even own a Dell and can afford their best XPS to replace my 3 year old 2.0GHz.
What I see is your EXTREME BIAS and HATRED for Dell like a disgruntled ex-employee, or attempting to discredit a company while working for another.
Shall I say it AGAIN.. I am not critical of people complaining about Dell or any computer company, BUT because of you coming into CNet a little over a month ago, right off the bat being so extremely critical of a company (to me its regardless of what company) for the first two days in all your posts, and not letting up is highly unusual. My opinion still stands that you are a disgruntled ex-employee or attempting to discredit a company while working for another.
your constant publishing of their links promoting your disgrunled grudge and hatred.
Did you see that thread by the guy looking for the best price on a Dell? (He's no newbie at CNET, so I figure he knows what he wants.) I thought that you could help him with that.

and it doesn't look as if he's gotten all the info he needs yet.

Since we're all just jumping up and down like a bunch of kids in here...and since we're only required to provide our "personal" opinions...
"IBM! IBM! IBM! IBM! IBM! IBM! IBM! IBM! IBM! IBM! IBM!"
Gee, that was fun! ![]()

Well the PS Mod 80 I had was built like tank!! But I havn't worked on IBM PCs since I retired from IBM in '98
I still think the laptops are very good. John
Workstation: Silicon graphics IRIX operating system 4 800mhz 64bit capable processors, 2 128mb/104mb texturing video cards, 16 gig of DDR ram. 96bit viewable, visual graphics at 65 or 72 hertz, Two 21 inch graphics monitors can work off of same computer, multi-tasking flawlessly. price is questionable.
Maybe not the best, but Dell is up near the top. I have purchased three Dell computers in the last five years and each one of them, (all different Dimension models), are still running fine. I had problems with the 2350, (my first Dell), when an automatic Windows update installed Windows Media Player 10. Since resolving that problem, I have had no other problems.
I do regular computer maintenance like virus scans and defrag. I suspect that many problems people have with their computers is a result of not doing their maintenance or not running anti virus programs and firewalls.
whether you are a "business" or a "consumer" customer!
No one here seems to dispute the fact that Dell treats its business customers quite well...it's in the consumer market that we find the most "controversy". What people here need to know is how many positives compared to how many negatives...in the consumer market.
JDM
Not service agreement or limited to a desktop, but best overall, any computer.
That has to be the computers that hollywood uses to make movies with, that has to be the computer that every major hospital uses to look for tumors and research a cure for aids. That computer is the SGI models; Tezro/Octane and Octane-2/Fuel
They are 100% on the job before and after the sale. They build everything from workstations to servers and develop software also. Silicon Graphics Inc.
Dell does not take better care of its business customers!
