If I am running the paid version of AVG, and this update is for the free version, then I don't need to download it, do I?

Hello,

AVG should be updated automatically, you do not need to download any updates.

Both program version updates and AVI databases updates are the same for both free and paid version.
Free version program updates are sometimes released later after paid version program updates.

As a paid customer you are entitled for full support here:

Thank you

Thanks very much, that is what I figured, but thought I should check.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
