for keeping track of Win updates and drivers:

"There is a second method of receiving the security updates as well as other drivers, and windows updates which this disk you mentioned may not include. Proceed to the windows update site, personalize it, then go into windows catalog, which will provide all the updates I mentioned in sections, which you can directly download to your hard drive, (I have done this, and then created a Main directory for the files (ex: Win98 Updates, W2K Updates, WinXP Updates), then using a CDRW drive, you can drag and drop the entire directory and files to it, and have everything you need should your system crash, you can resetup your security patches and drivers offline."
