Choosing a 4K TV Help
Considering several models of 55" or 65" 4k TV's (Sony & Samsung primarily). Basic question - should i consider a higher end 4k tv with a smaller screen size (i.e. 55") or a larger 4k tv (i.e. 65") which may not have as good of specs. We typically sit around 10-12' from the tv?

To get the full benefit of 4k, you need to sit closer to the TV than the diagonal measure of the screen. (Few people actually do this, I imagine.)
With a 65" TV and a 10-12' viewing distance, the resolution of a 4k TV should not be distinguishable from a HD (1080) TV, unless your eye can resolve much finer than 1 arc minute (0.3 milliradians).
HDR/WCG (high dynamic range/wide color gamut) would work at any range. I doubt that the entry level HDR sets do it well (they have 8 bit panels, vs. 10 bit for high-end), and they don't do WCG at all.
If you watch a lot of sports, you'll need to consider whether the TV is good with fast motion.
I'm not trying to be a wise guy. I think that your question is a little naïve, and that you'll have to do more study to have much hope of getting what you'd like. Which will depend on what you use the TV for. (My primary viewing is movies, from BD or UHD BD disks.)

Thanks for your comments. I was comparing a Sony x850d in 55" to the Sony x750d with a 65" screen. Primary watch streaming movies, sports and general tv. Just trying to decide which of these may work best, or if there are some 60" models is should consider. Budget is up to $1,400.
