re: lumix fz35 intermittent zoom/shutter failure

My fz35 developed a glitch where the shutter and zoom would stop responding and then start functioning again. I haven't used it for two years and finally replaced it with a Sony a3000. So I am swapping out the cameras in the camera bag and just for nothing I throw a battery into the lumix and it works perfectly. So frustrating! I shut it down before it glitched up but I was able to get off some comparison shots with the Sony which should be interesting.
I am really going to miss the zoom on the lumix. I tried sending it to be repaired but I just wasted my money.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.

There are reports that a fresh battery makes it work again.

There are other notes out there about cleaning the battery contacts. Hope this helps.

Thank you for responding. Are these notes/reports someplace on this forum? I suspect they may not be relevant to my situation since my camera does power up, but it just does not respond to the control buttons. But any links to similar problems would be much appreciated. Thanks again.

I think they are

But I don't keep links to them so I summarize and share rather than leave you with no answers. As the posts pretty much tell what I shared, I guess you want me to vet my answer.

Sorry but I would have to google it up and search spending time to duplicate my answer so I'll decline to and ask your forgiveness.

Please excuse my ignorance and accept my thanks for pointing me in the right direction. On another forum, a poster detailed how the use of third party batteries can cause problems. I had assumed that if the camera powered up then all was good. Apparently, not so much. So I am going to charge the original battery and see how it goes. Thanks again.!
