Re loading Xp on to Acer Netbook with SD Card

Dec 25, 2010 8:46PM PST

I have an Acer Aspire One ( AOA 110-1722 ) , this has Xp loaded.
My problem is that I can't boot up - I get to the welcome screen, then the list of Safe Mode , Last known config etc, appears. When I enter anyone of these it goes into disc check. Then the cycle starts again. How can I either reinstall XP I have a CD b which I can use on my desktop, this also has an SD reader. As far as the Acer is concerned there is NO disc drive and I have no remote hard drive - just USB stick and the existing 8 Gb SD memory card.
Would XP portable on a USB - get me going ??

If you have the OS on CD, get an external USB drive (DVD/CD) this is a pretty common item used to load software to netbooks. Flash drive input also another way but my question would be, what created the issue in the first place? It is possible that it could be a hardware issue so a bit more information regarding events which led up to the dilemma might help.

What caused the problem - I have no idea. My machine was in good shape , until the next time I tried to use it - then the problem started.

Just wondered if you tried a battery reset, pull battery out let it sit for a few minutes, plug battery back in, restart system, this is fairly standard procedure in troubleshooting.

WinToFlash - Install Windows from usb - Home page
WinToFlash starts a wizard that will help pull over the contents of a windows installation CD or DVD and prep the USB drive to become a bootable replacement ...
wintoflash.com/home/en/.
This solved everything. Just had to set boot to USB.
