Outlook email (and all other info) is in a file that (by default) is called outlook.pst; the default location varies from version to version of Outlook and OS, and it's possible to rename it or change the folder.
Anyway, that's where your emails are, unless the Compaq advised procedure with your own extensions removed or renamed it. Only you (or Compaq) might know.
Search for *.pst on the whole hard disk, and import what you need into your current pst-file. Hope you find it. And for the future please read through http://support.microsoft.com/kb/196492 (or the equivalent for your version of Outlook).
Hope this helps,
Our Presario Notebook would not boot. After trying several options, Compaq tech support told me to re-install my operating system (Windows XP) This created new users with the same name but with a long extension.
Most of our software would not run, M/S and non-M/S including M/S Office We had to re-install or re-download to get it running again.
We now have full functionality and all software is running. Unfortunately the only e-mail archive was old and we are unable to find or access any e-mail other than the old archive.
Do my old Outlook e-mail files still exist for my old user name?
Can I move or re-name a folder or directory to access my old e-mails or were they deleted when I re-installed Office or the operating system?
Any advice would be appreciated.
