Re-installing Adaptec CD Creator 4

Sep 27, 2004 8:55AM PDT

My computer is a Compaq Presario 5000 series and a couple months ago I had to replace my CD-RW drive. Now when I try to make a music CD I get the error message: "there are no supported CD-Recorders available. Ensure that your CD-Recorder is powered on and all cables are properly connected. You may also need to update Easy CD Creator to recognize your CD-Recorder. Update by selecting Web-Checkup from the internet menu." But when I tried to update, it says the software is up to date. So I decided to uninstall CD Creator. Now when I tried to re-install it from the disk with all other programs closed, I get a system installation error message:"system has detected unInstallshield is in use. Please close unInstallshield and restart setup. Error 432." Can someone please help? I don't understand what's going on, I dont have or see an unInstallshield. Where do I find it to close it so I re-install the CD Creator software? thanks in advance for your help

Here's why. They haven't been adding recorders to that old version for years. Don't Panic!

Here's what I use...

It can make CDAUDIO CDRs so it may help you out of this issue for free.

Check and Make sure both your D and E drives are recognized. Make the Burner the Secondary Master and the other ROM the slave by arranging the jumper pins on the back of each ROM drive. Most people use the D drive as the burner
and the E drive the CD rom.
Totally remove all of the Adaptec entries and reinstall the application. You may need to install drivers for your burner as well. Good Luck. Make sure you get the patches or firmware you might have to update with...

That doesn't work. Here's why.

Version 4 hasn't added any new drive support for years. And there is no driver that will fix that.

Roxio had a database of drives that worked with each version. Do check that.
