If the DVD has a region code, it can only be used on players that are customized that region. A region free DVD can be played anywhere.
As the DVD isn't changed when you play it, it's impossible that its history would be a factor to determine if it can be played on a particular machine.

What does: "These DVDs are region free so they will play on any DVD player Worldwide and DVD-Rom, X-Box or PS2 worldwide" mean. I read that once you play them on a device, you can't play them on any other device or machine. Is that true? Can you be specific for us?
