Housekeeping

Your can try the "repair mode" if you can boot with your install disc -OR- run the chkdsk /r or /f (or both) command from the repair console. You can also try those provided you can boot into "safe mode w/networking" enabled. Hopefully that will do one of two things, correct possible OS corruption or repair file damage.

If the PC has never been attended to as in true system maint. upkeep and/or file housekeeping it all builds up to some letdown as on older PC's it becomes too much to exclude true h/w faults. Even if you correct the present fault, it may come back because the overhead of file r/w or storage, etc., may exceed the ability of being properly adhere to as time passes. So, if there are many old pgms. or files that are no longer required, needed, old or just need to be gone, do such that delete or remove(un-install) to reduce.

To help remove pgms. fully, I like REVO uninstaller, get the free version and allow it to handle *full* unistalls.

Re: shutting down and errors

My first guess: malware.

Boot into Safe Mode and run a full antivirus check. Then the anti-malware checks from http://forums.cnet.com/7726-6132_102-5098912.html?tag=posts;msg5099421

You could have told more, like when you get those 2 errors and when it shuts down. Shutting down can be the cause of a hardware issue also, so it's not sure at all these things are related.

Run diagnostics
Aug 21, 2013 5:06AM PDT

HI avelinn,

In addition to the suggestions shared by Willy and Kees, I would suggest you to run the Dell Diagnostics to check the hardware functionality. Power off the computer -> restart the computer, press 'F12' key on the Dell logo -> Select 'Diagnostics' from the boot menu.

Please share the findings.

Thanks and Regards,
