? re: configuration of email scanning for AVG

by zeebell / November 15, 2004 1:02 PM PST

Should this have a checkmark?

Go to email scan; on the plugins tab click on Configure. Under the Attachment filter, should there be a checkmark by Use hueristic email message filter?

Also, in the new version before this new version, when sending an email, a little turning icon would appear in the systray ------ it's no longer doing that. Do I need to check something else?

Thanks for any and all help.

Julea

Julea, by all means check the heuristic option.

FYI the turning symbol has been replaced by a small pop up screen that tells you when it is downloading and when you are sending.

however the file has to be more that just a reply to an email for you to actually see it.

suggestion, using OE send a photo using the 'insert file' function.

send it if neccessary to your hotmail or yahoo address.

watch the bottom right of your screen.

you will see a little oblong grey screen appear momentarily giving details.

if you want to see the incoming, send a letter to a whole lot of ppl and ask them to reply asap.

if they all do it together creating a fair sized download, you will see the scanner at work.

or go to anywebsite in your browser, copy the address, open an email from the browser bar, paste, address it and send.

you will now see the scanner at work.

i did not reconfigure the scanner whan the revised email scanner was introduced a few weeks ago, because AVG has only changed the manner in which the email scanner is displayed, from an icon that went in a circle to a little pop up screen.

maybe the proggies at AVG got a little dizzy watching it?

Thanks David for your input. I really like the new AVG and I did try some of your suggestions -- you're right, it works fine. I appreciate you. BTW, I now have heuristic option checked. Thanks again.
