RCA tv Freezes when connected to the internet

Oct 10, 2017 11:19PM PDT

I have an RCA SLD48G45RQ , it's about a year and a half old. It works fine - I have playstation and wii hooked up to it, I can watch things from my computer on it with an HDMI cable, all without a hitch. But I can no longer connect it to the internet directly. As soon as I plug in the ethernet cable, the tv freezes and sometimes even turns off after freezing. I can't connect it wirelessly because I don't have wireless. I've used it for a year, watching Netflix on it no problem, with the ethernet cable plugged in direct.... Now, since a week ago, this problem has been happening, and I can't find any answers anywhere. No one seems to have an answer for why this tv would freeze as soon as it's connected to the internet. Please help.

Try factory resets and if it's OOW I'd just forget about the feature as repair is often more than the set.

Also, be sure to see if RCA issued new firmware.

Yeah, factory resets aren't working... Thank you for the help though.

I'm in America. So I should just be able to email the support email and ask about firmware updates?... The only thing is, I don't know how I'd be able to get the update if there is one, since it can't connect my tv to the internet.

That was unsatisfying.

Now that I could check for USA, it sent me in a web loop back to the link I gave.

Many makers have you place the upgrade firmware on some USB stick. No internet is required.
Since RCA has a broken support web site, it appears you are left to email them the questions.

Thank you!
