Raw Files and how to work with them?

Aug 23, 2005 1:40PM PDT

Never worked with raw files before in any software programs.
Please explain what they are. And, how to use them in Adobe Photoshop, any version. Why use them at all??
Same kind of question pertains to the Digital Camera Forum. I go to that forum also with Joe and Bob as the moderators.
Thanks,

-Kevin

RAW file format...

Hey Kevin...Try clicking here for a detailed analysis of RAW files as a comparison to jpegs. The site was selected as one of PC Magazines top 101 useful sites, and a representative from Adobe was one of two professionals who helped in the creation of the tutorial.

Raw File Fomat

John, Great links and info. Now all I need are a few hours to learn what you have provided to me. Went to your first link. Learned what a raw file was all about. Next to Adobe, etc. Also to learn about 8 bit, which I use daily and to check out the 16 bit display.
Very, very nice info from you.
Want to send it to the Digital Camera forum as a tip on links to RAW files with photography!
I think Joe would like it posted to that forum. What do you think about posting it? Really nice info on photography and RAW info together.
Seems there are many issues and discussions on the Graphics Forum and the Digital Canera forum looking for the same answer.
Sent a note to Bob Proffitt suggesting something like that to him a few days ago.
Thanks for the wonderful links!
